1. Emerald Bay Overlook — technically California-side on Highway 89, but the view of Fannette Island is the single image every Tahoe brochure uses, and it deserves the ranking. 2. Cave Rock, Nevada side — pull-off on US-50, 15 minutes from Zephyr Cove, and you’re looking at the deepest part of the lake. 3. East Shore Trail from Incline Village — bike or walk to Sand Harbor for the clearest turquoise water on the lake. 4. Heavenly gondola top, Stateline — 9,100 feet, both Tahoe and Carson Valley in one panorama.
Five through seven
5. Logan Shoals Vista Point — small pullout on US-50 south of Glenbrook, usually empty even in July. 6. Spooner Summit — the trailhead for the Tahoe Rim Trail's most photographed section, with a 1.5-mile walk to a bench view of the whole basin. 7. Thunderbird Lodge from the water — you need a boat tour, but the Stone Castle from lake level is Tahoe's best hidden landmark. Skip the Cal Neva viewpoint until the resort finishes its perpetual renovation.

Sunrise from Cave Rock, because the sun comes up over the Carson Range behind you and lights the lake pink. Sunset from Emerald Bay, because the sun drops directly behind Fannette Island.
Can I see all seven in one day?+
The four Nevada-side stops fit in an afternoon. Adding Emerald Bay pushes you into a full loop of the lake, about 72 miles and six hours with stops.
