Shuttle logic
Electric Daisy Carnival runs the third weekend of May at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, 15 miles north of the Strip. The event runs 7pm to 5:30am, three nights running. Official shuttle pickup points are Circus Circus, Bally's (now Horseshoe), and the LVCC — meaning hotels near these are the practical choice. Rideshare in and out is expensive and slow; the shuttle is included with most passes and reliable.
For shuttle convenience, Circus Circus and Resorts World work well on the north Strip. Horseshoe, Paris and Flamingo cluster near the center Strip pickup. Downtown properties like Circa and Golden Nugget have their own shuttle programs some years — check before booking.
Rates and booking
EDC weekend rates land at 3-5x normal. Circus Circus rooms that go for $45 midweek in April sit at $280 for EDC Friday/Saturday. Wynn, Encore and Resorts World push $700+. Three-night minimums are standard, and non-refundable rates are common. Book in December or January for the best selection.
Cheaper alternative: stay downtown at The D, Fremont or California for $180-240 and take the EDC shuttle from Circus Circus (a 15-minute walk or short rideshare). The savings vs Strip pricing usually clear $400 across three nights.
Sleep planning
You return to your hotel at 6am and want to sleep until 2pm. This rules out anything with construction noise (currently a concern near the Fontainebleau area) and anything with pool parties directly below (Flamingo, Linq). Ask for a high floor facing away from the Strip. Encore and Wynn have famously good blackout curtains and quiet rooms.
Bring earplugs regardless. Pool access is nice but you will not use it — you will be asleep. Do not book a room with a shared connecting door if you can avoid it. Late checkout (4pm) is worth begging for on Sunday; many properties will grant it if you ask at check-in.

Is it worth staying at the Motor Speedway campground instead?+
Only if you have RV experience and heat tolerance. Camp EDC is fun but temperatures hit 100F during the day and dust is constant. First-timers should stick with a hotel.
Can I get a refund if I skip EDC?+
Most hotels enforce non-refundable rates for EDC weekend. Book with a credit card that offers trip protection, or buy travel insurance separately.
