Formula 1 Las Vegas: hotel pricing week

The most expensive week in Vegas history now happens every November — expect Strip-view rooms at $2,000 a night.

The race is the Strip

The Las Vegas Grand Prix runs the third weekend of November on a circuit that includes Las Vegas Boulevard itself. Sessions run Thursday through Saturday night, closing Strip traffic from roughly 5pm to 4am each day. The pit building sits behind the Wynn/Encore complex, and turns 5-9 pass directly in front of Bellagio, Cosmopolitan, Paris and Caesars Palace.

This makes hotel choice everything. A Strip-view room at Bellagio Fountain View, Cosmopolitan Wraparound Terrace or the Paris Eiffel Tower side becomes a private grandstand — and is priced like one. Fountain-view suites at Bellagio for race weekend list at $5,000-15,000 per night with four-night minimums.

What you actually pay

Standard Strip rooms without race views run $600-1,200 for race weekend at properties like MGM Grand, Mandalay Bay and Park MGM. Downtown drops to $250-400 (Circa, Golden Nugget, Plaza), which is reasonable if you have race tickets and can rideshare early. Off-Strip options like Rio, Palms and Westgate sit at $350-600.

Non-race-view rooms at Strip properties are often a better value than they look — you can watch on TV in the room and walk to grandstand seats. Wynn, Encore and Venetian are inside the security perimeter, meaning walking access without ticket-gate queues. That access commands a premium of roughly 40% over otherwise-comparable Strip rooms.

Non-race travelers

If you are visiting Vegas that week without race tickets, seriously consider going elsewhere or shifting dates. Restaurants require reservations weeks out, the Strip becomes physically inaccessible on foot during sessions (bridges close, pedestrian routes reroute), and every rideshare is surging.

The week before F1 (second week of November) is the cheapest stretch of autumn — Strip rooms at $75, weather at 70F, everything open, and no crowds. If your dates are flexible, this is the best trade in the calendar. The week after F1 through Thanksgiving is also soft.

Good to know

Do hotels charge race-view surcharges even if I booked before the race was announced?+

New bookings are priced at race rates from the moment they open. Existing reservations are honored, but hotels have canceled and rebooked rooms in past years — book with a firm-guarantee chain and screenshot your confirmation.

Can I watch the race from a hotel room for free?+

Some rooms overlook the circuit but do not have official view certification. Fountain-view rooms at Bellagio floors 20+ see Turn 9 clearly. Cosmopolitan Terrace Suites see Turn 8. Views from Paris Eiffel Tower-side rooms above floor 25 are excellent.
