Red Rock Casino Resort & Spa is the obvious answer and mostly correct — it's 15 minutes from the visitor center, has a serious pool complex, and its spa is legitimately good. Rooms in the newer tower have Red Rock escarpment views on the west side (ask for high floor, west-facing). JW Marriott Las Vegas is 5 minutes further from the park but has better grounds, more grass, and TPC Las Vegas next door. Both are Station Casinos/Marriott territory and both cost less than Strip equivalents.
For actual proximity, the Element Las Vegas Summerlin and Residence Inn by Marriott Las Vegas South are extended-stay properties with kitchens, useful for climbing trips where you’re cooking and leaving at dawn. Hyatt Place Las Vegas at Silverton isn’t Summerlin but does put you closer to the Blue Diamond climbing areas.
Trade-offs for climbers and hikers
The 13-mile Scenic Drive opens at 6am November-February and 6am/7am seasonally otherwise. If you’re chasing shade on Solar Slab or the Rainbow Wall, the extra 15 minutes from a Strip hotel matters. Red Rock Casino is the earliest you’ll wake with real breakfast options — its coffee shop opens at 6am. JW Marriott's coffee opens at 5:30am for guests.
Skip anything on the west end of Charleston that isn’t a chain — the older motels in that stretch are rough. Boulder City is closer to Valley of Fire and Hoover Dam but a poor Red Rock base at 45 minutes across town. If you’re mixing Red Rock and Valley of Fire in one trip, split your nights: 2 nights Summerlin, 1 night Boulder City.

Yes, October through May, for the Scenic Drive between 8am and 5pm. Book at recreation.gov up to 30 days ahead or arrive before 8am to enter without a reservation.
How far is Red Rock Casino from the Strip?+
20-25 minutes via the 215 and Sahara depending on traffic. Rideshare is $35-45 one-way. Renting a car for a Summerlin stay is almost mandatory.
