Free self-parking, Strip-adjacent
Wynn and Encore reversed course and now offer free self-parking for all guests, a move that undercut MGM and Caesars simultaneously. Treasure Island stayed free throughout the parking wars and remains so — the location at Spring Mountain is genuinely convenient. Circus Circus is free for guests, still, though the walk from the RV park end of the lot is punishing. The Venetian and Palazzo charge, but their Grand Canal Shoppes retail parking is free for 3 hours, useful for a dinner reservation.
Off-Strip, Palace Station, Silverton, South Point, and Sam's Town all offer free parking as a baseline. These aren’t Strip hotels but they’re 10-15 minutes by car and often 40% cheaper. Rio Hotel & Casino, mid-renovation, still parks free. Sahara flips between free and paid depending on the month — check current policy the week you arrive.
Downtown and the workaround
Downtown is uniformly free-parking territory: Golden Nugget, Plaza, Golden Gate, Four Queens, Fremont, and the D all self-park at no charge. If you’re staying Strip-side but visiting Downtown, park at Main Street Station and walk — validation is easy and the garage is covered. The California is the quietest of the Downtown lots.
The hack on the paid Strip is that most self-park garages are free for the first hour, and free for World of Hyatt, MGM Rewards Gold and above, and Caesars Diamond tier and above. Signing up for MGM Rewards is free and takes 5 minutes at any kiosk. Valet is universally paid and $30-40 with tip; skip it unless you’re going out for the night in shoes you don’t want to walk in.
Good to know
Is street parking anywhere near the Strip legal overnight?+
No. Clark County and Las Vegas both enforce no overnight parking on residential streets, and the Strip itself has no street parking at all. Use a hotel garage or off-Strip lot.
Do rideshare drivers pay to enter the Strip garages?+
No — Uber and Lyft use designated pickup zones that don’t touch the paid parking system. This is why rideshare has cannibalized rental cars on Strip trips.
