Morning: Strip south to north
Start at 8am with coffee at the Bouchon Bakery inside the Venetian and eat outside on the terrace before the crowds. Walk south along the Strip past the Mirage volcano site, Caesars Palace, and the Bellagio conservatory, which is free and rotates seasonally. By 10:30am cross to the Cosmopolitan, ride the elevator to the third-floor terrace for the best free Bellagio fountain view, then continue to the Aria and the Waldorf Astoria sky lobby on the 23rd floor.
At noon, cut back north through CityCenter to Park MGM and grab tacos at Best Friend or a quick bowl at NoMad Library. Sit down. You are about to walk more. The Strip is 4.2 miles end to end and the sidewalks are not flat — the pedestrian bridges add real elevation, so pace yourself and drink water constantly.
Afternoon and evening
From 2pm to 5pm pick one paid attraction and commit: the High Roller observation wheel at the LINQ (30 minutes), the Sphere exhibit or a matinee show, or the Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay. Skip trying to do two. Head back to your hotel by 5:30pm to shower and change — the temperature difference between casino floors and the sidewalk destroys people who do not reset.
At 7:30pm take a rideshare to Fremont Street downtown. Eat at the Golden Steer if you booked ahead, or grab a table at Esther's Kitchen in the Arts District. Walk under the Viva Vision canopy on Fremont, watch one light show at the top of the hour, and be back on the Strip by 11pm for the Bellagio fountains from the Cosmopolitan terrace. Sleep at the Cosmopolitan or Park MGM — both put you in the middle of everything for tomorrow's flight.
Good to know
Can I walk the whole Strip in one day?+
Physically yes, but do not try. The sidewalk from Mandalay Bay to the Sahara is 4.2 miles with pedestrian bridges that force detours. Walk the mid-Strip core (Bellagio to Venetian, about 1.5 miles) and rideshare or take the Deuce bus for the ends.
Is one day enough for Las Vegas?+
For a first visit, no — you will miss Red Rock, the Neon Museum, and any real show. But a one-day layover works if you accept it as a highlight reel and stay mid-Strip so you never lose more than 15 minutes to transit.
