Las Vegas spring break: hotel guide

March Madness, spring breakers and 80F pool weather — Vegas from mid-March through mid-April.

The overlapping calendar

Vegas spring break is not a single week — it stretches from mid-March through the first week of April as different regions release students on different schedules. Layer March Madness (mid-March through early April) and NASCAR weekend at Las Vegas Motor Speedway (second weekend of March), and you get four consecutive weekends of packed sportsbooks and full pools.

Rates track this. Strip weekends hit $250-450 at mid-tier properties (Flamingo, Linq, Cromwell, Horseshoe). Weekdays remain reasonable at $130-180. The properties most affected are the ones with the biggest pool scenes: Flamingo's Go Pool, Linq's Influence, and Circa's Stadium Swim downtown.

Where the crowds go

Spring breakers cluster at Flamingo, Linq, Excalibur, Luxor and Tropicana territory. The dayclub circuit — Encore Beach Club (opens third weekend of March), Ayu at Resorts World, Marquee at Cosmopolitan — is fully operational and packed. Cover charges spike, drink prices spike, and lines start at 10am on Saturdays.

Adults wanting to avoid it: Wynn, Encore, Four Seasons (inside Mandalay Bay), Waldorf Astoria, and Nobu Hotel at Caesars all skew older and have quieter pools. Vdara is casino-free and pool-focused for a mature crowd. Green Valley Ranch in Henderson is another escape — 20 minutes from the Strip, upscale, and no spring-break crowd.

March Madness specifics

The First Round Thursday and Second Round Sunday are the two busiest sportsbook days of the year. Westgate SuperBook, Circa's sportsbook (largest in the world), and Caesars Palace book all fill by 8am on Thursday. Reserved seating at Circa requires online reservation weeks ahead.

If you want to bet March Madness without the chaos, mobile apps (BetMGM, Caesars, DraftKings) work statewide once you are inside Nevada. Any casino sportsbook takes walk-up bets, and off-Strip locals casinos (Red Rock, Green Valley Ranch, South Point) offer the same lines with a fraction of the crowd.

Good to know

When exactly do pools reopen for the season?+

Most Strip pools open the first weekend of March; dayclubs at Encore Beach Club, Ayu and Marquee follow by the third weekend. Heated pools at Aria, Encore and Cosmopolitan run year-round.

Is spring break more expensive than summer?+

Weekends yes, weekdays no. A Saturday in late March costs 3-4x a Saturday in late July, but a Tuesday is roughly the same at both.
