Who Laughlin suits
Laughlin suits retirees on bus trips from Southern California, river-runners doing jet ski or kayak trips on the Colorado, snowbirds spending January and February at Riverside Resort or Aquarius, and anyone who wants Vegas-scale gambling at half the price. Riverside Resort (Don Laughlin's own property) runs $45 to $110, Aquarius $50 to $130, Harrah's Laughlin $55 to $140, Golden Nugget Laughlin $50 to $120. The Laughlin River Run motorcycle rally in late April doubles rates.
It does not suit anyone under 40 looking for nightlife (there essentially isn’t any), families expecting kid activities beyond the river, or Strip-quality food. Laughlin is a bargain gambling town, and it does not pretend otherwise.
What is walkable
The Laughlin Riverwalk connects all nine casinos along the Colorado River for about 1.5 miles — walkable end to end in 30 minutes or reachable by the free water taxis that run between properties for $5 round trip. Katherine Landing at Lake Mohave is 15 minutes north for boat rentals. Oatman, Arizona, a former mining town with wild burros in the street, is 30 minutes east across the river. The Bullhead City side has more chain restaurants and a Walmart if you need supplies.

Yes. Bullhead City directly across the river is Arizona. The bridge is the state line and time zone change.
How do I get there without a car?+
Tropicana Express and some Vegas casinos run occasional bus packages. Otherwise it is a 90-minute drive from Las Vegas or a flight into Laughlin/Bullhead International.
